about

Anti Social Fabric is an upbeat, hardcore, indie punk track that tackles the thorny issue of bike path bullies. The song derides the reckless pursuit of speed on shared bike paths and, recounting a series of true stories, describes its effects on everyday riders. The song invites critical reflection on the broader impacts of sport dominated cycling in an appeal for more sedate and humane attitudes lest Lycra clad road warriors thwart cycling’s mass adoption.

Featuring a music video nominated as a finalist in 2020 Brisbane Bicycle Film Festival, Anti Social Fabric is song for anyone who has experienced intimidation at the hands of cycle hoons.

Like all their tracks, instrumentation was performed and recorded live in a single take in the Bears' custom made recording studio.

lyrics

I took my first born child
Training wheels cast aside
We ventured far outside
We went out for a ride

And then we saw a figure
A marvel character
Gave us a dressing down
For slowing him down

She rounds a tricky corner
This dude flies right beside her
She’s on the ground in pain
He yells and rides away

A logo on his back
It was a brand of gas
Life is a velodrome
Or you can stay at home

The anti-social fabric
wraps round those two wheel tragics
The anti-social fabric
Skin-tight it’s sheer black magic

You’re cruising Coro Drive
They’re pedalling two by five
They slap her bonnet hard
Her kids are in the car

Corporate men in cleats
Are filming all your deets
They’re arching all their backs
They own the racetrack

The anti-social fabric
wraps round those two wheel tragics
The anti-social fabric
